Linear integration
Flowsery's AI watches your session recordings and reports what broke. The Linear integration sends those issues to your Linear workspace, so the team fixes them where it already plans its work. You can create a Linear issue from any Flowsery issue, or let Flowsery file every new one for you. When the Linear issue is closed, Flowsery resolves its own copy.
What you need
- A Flowsery website with session recording turned on. Issues come from recorded sessions.
- An Admin or Editor role in the Flowsery workspace. Members with other roles can see the connection but cannot change it.
- A Linear account in the Linear workspace you want to file issues into. Any Linear member can approve the connection. You don't need to be a Linear admin.
Every Flowsery plan includes the Linear integration.
Connect Linear
- In Flowsery, open the website and go to Website settings → Integrations.
- On the Linear card, click Connect.
- Click Connect with Linear. Flowsery sends you to Linear.
- Choose the Linear workspace and approve access. Flowsery asks for read access to list your teams and write access to create issues and upload recordings.
- Linear sends you back to Flowsery. The card shows Connected and the name of your Linear workspace.
The connection belongs to the website. To file issues from several websites, connect each one.
Create a Linear issue from a Flowsery issue
- Open an issue in Flowsery and click Create ticket.
- Pick Linear as the tracker, then pick the team.
- Check the title, the description and the steps to reproduce, then click Create.
The Linear issue contains:
- the title and description
- the severity
- how many sessions were affected
- when the issue was first and last seen
- a link to the issue in Flowsery and a link to the session recording
Flowsery also attaches the recording video to the Linear issue.
File new issues automatically
Once Linear is connected, the Linear card shows Auto tickets.
- Turn on Auto tickets.
- Pick the Linear team that should receive the issues.
- Pick a Minimum severity, from Low and above to Critical only.
From then on, every new issue Flowsery detects at or above that severity becomes a Linear issue in that team, with the same details as a manual ticket. Auto tickets go to one tracker per website. Turning them on for Linear turns them off for Jira or Notion on the same website.
Closing an issue in Linear resolves it in Flowsery
When a Linear issue that Flowsery created moves to a completed or canceled state, Flowsery marks the matching issue as resolved. Only issues that are still open or in progress change. Linear notifies Flowsery on its own, so there is nothing to set up. Editing an issue that is already done does nothing.
Websites connected with an API key
Before Flowsery supported OAuth, a website connected to Linear with a personal API key. Those websites keep working. Their card says Connected with an API key. Switch to OAuth from Manage.
To move to OAuth, click Manage, then Switch to OAuth, and approve access in Linear. The OAuth connection replaces the API key, and you can delete the key in Linear afterwards.
Disconnect Linear
- Go to Website settings → Integrations.
- On the Linear card, click Manage, then Disconnect.
Flowsery revokes its access in Linear and deletes the connection. Issues already in Linear stay there. Flowsery stops creating tickets in Linear for that website, including auto tickets.
You can also remove Flowsery from your Linear workspace in Linear's settings. Flowsery then shows the website as needing a reconnect.
Troubleshooting
The card says "Reconnect needed". Flowsery lost access to the Linear workspace, usually because someone removed the app in Linear. Click Reconnect and approve access again. Your auto ticket settings stay as they were.
Create ticket asks you to connect a tracker first. This website is not connected to Linear. Connect it from Website settings → Integrations.
The team list is empty. The Linear account that approved the connection cannot see any team. Ask a Linear admin to add that account to a team, or reconnect with an account that belongs to one.
A closed Linear issue did not resolve the Flowsery issue. Flowsery only resolves issues it created in Linear, and only when the Linear issue moves into a completed or canceled state. If the issue was already resolved or suspended in Flowsery, it stays as it is.
For anything else, write to contact@flowsery.com with the website domain and the Flowsery issue link.
